        - nature of adjoining building

        - topography of the site

        - Council restrictions and covenants that may be applicable

        - site orientation

        - possible foundation difficulties

Arrange for soil reports

Investigate current zoning and usage of the site

Check and verify the location of services such as sewer, water and electricity
